Ich hatte mit dem LTS-Kernel 5.4 und dem Nvidia-Treiber 390 grundsätzlich das Problem, dass der Rechner nicht in "Bereitschaft" (Suspend to RAM) gehen wollte.
Statt eines Suspend gab es dann immer einen kompletten Neustart mit dem Hinweis

Hibernate inconsistent memory map detected!

in dmesg.
Seit Kernel 5.8 trat das Problem nicht mehr auf - das einzige, was dann etwas nervte, war die recht geringe "Lebenszeit" der einzelnen Kernelversionen von oft nur wenigen Wochen. Insbesondere wenn man den alten Nvidia-Treiber verwendet, kann die Umstellung auf eine neue Kernel-Version eine Herausforderung sein.

Glücklicherweise ist es fleißigen Arch-Usern gelungen, den Nvidia-Treiber 390 auch mit Kernel 5.10 zum Laufen zu bekommen. Laut Aussagen aus dem Netz soll 5.10 auch wieder ein LTS-Kernel werden, sobald 5.11 freigegeben worden ist.

Da kann ich nur hoffen das der 5.10 LTS bei mir dann keine Probleme mehr macht.
Alles nach 5.8 hatte den Fehler.

Wenn das ein Problem mit Kernel > 5.8 ist, wird das problem mit 5.10 LTS genau so auftreten. LTS ist ja kein „besserer“ Kernel, sondern einfach nur auf der genannten Version eingefroren und durch Backports mit Sicherheitsupdates versorgt.

An der Grafik sind eine ganze Menge Komponenten am werkeln. Kernel, Treiber, mesa, xorg, xfce4, browser, mpv ect. .....
Von da her würde ich als erstes auf der Test-Seite das Problem näher eingrenzen und danach erst die einzelnen Komponenten versuchsweise downgraden.

Mit den Paket mesa-demos kann man z.B. einen

glxinfo | grep version

Befehl absetzen.
Hier die Seite ist auch mal interessant zu lesen was die Hardwarebeschleunigung und Kompositing anbelangt.

Jedenfalls wird da ständig und auf allen Ebenen am code gearbeitet (xfce4 ist auch noch ziemlich frisch) und ich kann mir durchaus vorstellen, dass ältere Hardware in machen Szenarien da zeitweise einem bug erliegt.

Da ist es bis jetzt immer aufgetreten, ein Video läuft und auf einmal hängt das ganze System, die Maus lässt sich nicht mehr bedienen, das Video verkommt zu einer Diashow und alles extrem träge.

Ein defektes Video (Download) kann auch schon die einzige Ursache dafür sein.

Ich hab jetzt den LTS Kernel installiert, jetzt hab ich zwar mehrere kürzere Hänger aber es geht dann wenigstens weiter. big_smile

Der nächste LTS Kernel ist dann 5.10.16-1
Vielleicht friert dann wieder das System dann damit ein
