[Solved]Videos laggen

Hallo

bei der Wiedergabe von Videos (egal ob Youtube, oder lokale Datei, oder Netflix) zuckt die Videoausgabe alle paar Sekunden. Die Tonausgabe ist davon nicht betroffen, Ton und Video laufen auch zeitlich auseinander.
Kann auch leider nicht mehr nachvollziehen seit wann das Problem aufgetaucht ist, hatte am Anfang auch erst an Probleme mit der Interverbindung gedacht, also keine Ahnung ob ein bestimmtes Programm oder Update das Problem verursacht.

Mal davon abgesehen, dass du so ziemlich ALLES installiert hast, was nach Grafiktreiber aussieht...

welcher Grafiktreiber wird denn bei dir verwendet? Auf dem ersten Blick fallen mir vier Grafiktreiber auf, die Xorg bei dir verwenden koennte.
1. xf86-video-amdgpu
2. xf86-video-ati
3. xf86-video-fbdev
4. xf86-video-vesa

... und eventuell
5. xf86-video-intel, falls dein i5 eine integrierte GPU hat.

Finde das mal raus (Xorg.0.log) und teile uns dies mit. Dann koennen wir weiter schauen. wink

EDIT: Halte auch mal ausschau nach "EE" und "WW" Meldungen in der Xorg.0.log.
... eventuell koenntest du dein  Video-Wiedergabeprogramm auch aus einem Terminalemulator heraus starten. Wenn du glueck hast, laeuft eine Fehlermeldung im Moment des Ruckelns auf.

Deinstallier mal alle Treiber ausser "xf86-video-amdgpu" und probiere erneut. Du solltest allerdings wissen, wie du den Xserver provisorisch wieder zum Laufen bekommst, falls der "xf86-video-amdgpu"-Treiber nicht funktioniert. Die letzten Informationen, die ich zur Unterstuetzung deiner Grafikkarte Seitens des "xf86-video-amdgpu"-Treibers gefunden habe, stammen vom August 2017.

natürlich hast du eine intel gpu, wenn du einen i5 hast und sei so gut und benutze code tags, so ist das lästig zum lesen

sorry für die fehlenden Tags, muss nachlesen wie das geht.
Ich bin bisher davon ausgegangen das die CPU (ist wohl Core i5-750) keine GPU enthält. Auf dem MB ist zumindestens kein Monitoranschluss nach draußen geführt

die gute Nachricht, System läuft noch nachdem ich alle Treiber ausser xf86-video-amdgpu deinstalliert habe (mit sudo pacman -R xf86-video....)

Video laggt aber immer noch.

Was ich seltsam finde, obwohl ich u.a. ati deinstalliert habe versucht das System immer noch das Modul zu laden.

die core i cpu haben die gpu integriert und vesa solltest du auch nicht entfernen.

Das stimmt IMHO so generell NICHT, siehe z.B.

Die i5-750 des TEs hat diese wohl nicht, selbst die wenigsten (Desktop)i7-Cores gaben eine integrierte GPU.
Das "i" bedeutet hier also wohl weniger "integrated" o.ä. ...

Passiert das eigentlich nur im Browser oder auch mit Programmen wie mplayer oder mpv?
Mein Schleppi zickt ähnlich im Browser rum.  Vor allem die Qt5-Webkit basierten machen Probleme.  Mit Mediaplayern aber habe ich keine Probleme.

Hast du schon mal die amdgpu-Seite im englischen Wiki durchstöbert?

Interessant und ggf. zielführend wäre da:

Eingangs im Artikel wird auch erwähnt:
"Support for accelerated video decoding is provided by libva-mesa-driver and lib32-libva-mesa-driver or libva-vdpau-driver for VA-API and mesa-vdpau and lib32-mesa-vdpau packages for VDPAU. "

Wäre also die Fragen:
a) Ist das linux firmware Paket installiert (pacman -Q linux-firmware)? Das nehme ich aber an.
b) (Interessanter) die Pakete:
pacman -Q libva-mesa-driver libva-vdpau-driver mesa-vdpau
Wenn keines (oder nicht alle) installiert sind würde ich das nachholen.
Evtl. sieht die Ausgabe in z.B. dem vlc und oder mpv dann anders aus als in deinem Post #3 und das "Ruckeln" wäre weg.

Ansonsten hab ich wenig Erfahrung mit AMD-Karten, evtl. wäre ein komplettes Bootjournal (journalctl -b) und komplettes XOrg.0.log hilfreich. Aus den Infos bisher kann ich z.B. nicht erkennen ob nicht ggf. doch das radeon-Modul/KMS anstatt des amdgpu genutzt wird und ob das falsch/richtig/besser wäre.

Firmware war installiert, bei b) haben 2 Sachen gefehlt nun ist aber alles installiert, leider immer noch ruckeln.
Die Wiki Seite muss ich mir noch anschauen.

Ich denke nicht, dass die Ursache im Grafiksubsystem zu suchen ist – Probleme damit würden sich eher in konstant geringer Framerate äußern.
Vielmehr würde ich andere Punkte im Auge behalten: den Verlauf der CPU-Auslastung, der RAM-Auslastung und der I/O-Auslastung während des Schauens. Gibt es Peaks in einem der drei, wenn das Stottern auftritt? Ich fand das Programm „netdata“ zum Monitoren des Systems für kurze Zeiträume ziemlich gut, da hat man hübsche Diagramme und allerhand Daten auf einem Blick.

Paar Schüsse ins Blaue: Gibt’s etwa an USB angeschlossene Geräte, welche die Ein-/Ausgabe blockieren können (man sieht sowas manchmal bei externen HDDs, die in den Stromsparmodus gehen und zum Wiederanlaufen teils mehrere Sekunden benötigen, während sie alles andere blockieren – wenn in dem Fall der Videobuffer/-cache leerläuft, während bei Audio noch genug vorhanden ist, würde das genau das beschriebene Fehlerbild hervorrufen können).

Ist der RAM der Kiste knapp bemessen und werden da ggf. Daten umgeschichtet, oder sogar geswapped?

Läuft auf dem System ein ressourcenintensiver Daemon mit hoher Priorität?

Das - und deine weiteren Hinweise - machen natürlich auch Sinn, richtig.
Abseits von netdata zum Beobachten von System-Zuständen/Lastspitzen im Zusammenhang mit dem "offensichtlichen Ruckeln" wäre auch noch atop (pacman -Si atop) geeignet, als root gestartet, evtl. ergibt sich ein Zusammenhang zwischen Ruckeln und Spitzen(nahe 100% Ausnutzung, "Blinken", von Bussystemen, Platten, Netzwerk, usw.)

Ich sehe in den Logfiles jetzt nichts Gravierendes, was einen Hinweis für das Verhalten bieten könnte.
Zwei (marginale) Punkte:
a) Du solltest deine $HOME/.xinitrc nochmal bearbeiten, da dort noch Ursprungs-Einträge zu einem Windowmanager drinstehen, den du nicht installeirt hast:

Diese Zeilen (xclock, xterm, twm) einfach auskommentieren (# davorstellen), als letze Zeile sollte lediglich dein Desktop gestartet werden, also:

exec cinnamon-session

b) Die letzen, gehäuften Warn/Fehlermeldungen betreffen ja die Anwendung, das Paket caribou:
"A text entry and UI navigation application (on-screen keyboard)". Ich weiß nicht ob du das zum einen überhaupt nutzt, und noch weiter hergeholt wäre ein Zusammenhang mit dem Ruckeln, aber man hat ja schon Pferde vor der Apotheke kotzen sehen... ;-) Ich würde die Anwendung/Applet oder den Prozeß einfach mal beenden oder killen (oder die Anwendung testweise ganz deinstallieren, Cinnamon neu starten) und dann das Videoverhalten nochmal prüfen.

Was mich zu einem weiteren Test*vorschlag* (try and error) bringt:
Installiere dir testweise einen der kleinen Windowmanager wie z.B. fluxbox

pacman -Syu fluxbox xterm

Das stört sich mit deinem Haupt-Windowmanager/Desktop Cinnamon in keinster Weise. Diesen kleinen WM zu starten und darin das Videoabspielverhalten zu beobachten würde halt (mit minimalem Aufwand) einen ganzen *möglichen* Problemkomplex (Cinnamon / Mutter / "Äpps" / Einstellungen / usw.) als Ursache ausschließen.
Dazu einfach in deiner $HOME/.xinitrc die Windowmanager tauschen:

# exec cinnamon-session
exec fluxbox

Slim (oder PC) neustarten und in Fluxbox dann einfach ein Terminal starten und darin den vlc oder mpv mit einem relevanten Video starten.
//Edit: Rechte Maustaste im Fluxbox bringt dir ein Menü, dort mit xterm dann das Terminal starten, darin dann vlc oder mpv oder Webbrowser.

Wenn es da nicht "ruckelt", dann wäre die Ursache IMHO wesentlich einkreisbarer...
Zum Beenden des "Tests" einfach obige fluxbox-Zeile deaktivieren oder löschen und die mit cinnamon wieder aktivieren (# weg). Paket fluxbox ggf. wieder deinstallieren.

um welche video formate gehts denn eigentlich?

ein youtube video mit mpv, normalerweise mit hardware unterstützung, aber dieses mal ohne sad

[ffmpeg/video] vp9: No support for codec vp9 profile 0.

im browser sieht man so was leider nicht… es kann auch ein software problem sein.

die unnötigen Eintrage aus .xinitrc  hab ich entfernt. Weil ich gestern wenig Zeit hatte konnte ich noch kein Monitoring aufsetzen, hab aber fluxbox ausprobiert, da hat nichts geruckelt (gleiches Video wie unter Cinnamon)
anschließend nochmal unter Cinnamon getestet, ruckelt, scheint also ein Problem mit Cinnamon zu sein

Dann würde ich nun testweise das Compositing in Cinnamon deaktivieren und gucken. Wäre nicht das erste Mal, dass es für Probleme sorgt (nicht auf Cinnamon beschränkt).

erstmal danke an alle die auf meine Frage geantwortet haben.
@niemand: hab leider nicht gefunden wie man Compositing in Cinnamon deaktivieren kann, hab aber dabei gefunden wie man die Einstellungen von Cinnamon zurück setzen kann, und zwar mit

gsettings reset-recursively org.cinnamon

danach lauften bei mir die Vidoes wieder flüssig.
