I have an old 64-bit Lenovo Ideapad S205. One day the internal network card was broken. Now I have a small USB - Wifi stick.
I set everything up with netctl, unblocking it with rfkill and drivers. It works quit good to the point the system suspends.
E.g.
sudo systemctl suspend
or by simply pressing the sleep button combination
I guess the USB port get to late on or got blocked. I have no idea to make the Wifi working after suspend. When rebooting everything works fine.
So for the first the device wlp0s19f2u2 is down after suspend.
$ip l
...
4: wlp0s19f2u2: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 qdisc mq state DOWN mode DEFAULT group default qlen 1000
link/ether 80:3f:5d:09:b8:13 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
if I now switch on th device and try to connect
#ip l s wlp0s19f2u2 up
#systemctl start netctl@home_standard_profile.service
Job for netctl@home_standard_profile.service failed because the control process exited with error code.
See "systemctl status netctl@home_standard_profile.service" and "journalctl -xe" for details.
I also tested with wifi-menu.
booth suggestions don't give me a hint and say more or less verbose this:
Aug 04 22:21:47 systemd[1]: Starting Networking for netctl profile home_standard_profile...
Aug 04 22:21:47 network[1373]: Starting network profile 'home_standard_profile'...

Aug 04 22:21:47 systemd[1]: netctl@home_standard_profile.service: Failed with result 'exit-code'.
But the Device is working kind of.
#iw dev wlp0s19f2u2 scan
... finds lots of neighboring wifi networks
The device is not blocked
$rfkill list
...
4: phy1: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: no
I guess the best hint would give the journal during a suspend cycle (sorry its a lot unneccesary stuff)
But I couldn't find anything beside that it stops the wpa_supplicantd.
