I try to connect my sony walkman nww270 to my laptop. Usually the walkman comes with a software, which is used to connect the device on machines, which run on windows. Nevertheless I never had problems, when I was connecting the device to my linux machines.
The setup is a follows:
Machine: Acer VN7-791G-582W
Device: Sony Walkman NWW270
I have four usb ports. Three of them are usb 2.0 and one is 3.0. All react in the same way:
After plugin the device in the red light, which indicates that the device is connect is turned on and starts flickering.
lsblk shows:
NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT
sda 8:0 0 232,9G 0 disk
├─sda1 8:1 0 255M 0 part /boot
├─sda2 8:2 0 224,9G 0 part /
├─sda3 8:3 0 1K 0 part
└─sda5 8:5 0 7,7G 0 part [SWAP]
sr0 11:0 1 1024M 0 rom
looking into dmesg, one can observe the following behavior:
[ 5424.561794] usb-storage 1-6:1.0: USB Mass Storage device detected
[ 5424.561903] scsi host6: usb-storage 1-6:1.0

[ 5479.552138] usb 1-6: new high-speed USB device number 104 using xhci_hcd
The disconnect happens shortly after the device was detected and without any physical influence.
I would be glad if anyone could share an idea, why this is happening.
