Ansonsten könntest Du i3 nochmal im Debug-Modus starten und sehen, ob Dir das irgendwelche Erkenntnisse liefert. Testweise könntest Du auch mal ein Downgrade des Kernels durchführen. Hab gesehen, dass im letzten Update der 5.0er installiert wurde.
Mir geht es auch um die Eingrenzung. Ich mag nicht so richtig an den i3 glauben. Deshalb: probier das mal eine Zeit lang (wie lange kann ich nicht abschätzen, hängt davon ab, wie oft der Fehler bei auftritt).
Tritt der Fehler weiterhin auf => es liegt nicht am i3.
Ja verstehe ich, aber ich möchte das Problem lösen und nicht aus dem Weg gehen...
Ich rede auch nicht vom Umsteigen, nur vom Pausieren. Würde meinen i3 zur Zeit auch nicht weggeben :-)
Aber ein paar Stunden oder (je nachdem wie häufig der Fehler auftritt) paar Tage mit einem anderen WM kann man überleben. Macht ja keinen Sinn einen Fehler im i3 nachzujagen, wenn dieser garnicht bei ihm zu finden ist.
Ich möchte nicht umsteigen, es lief ja die ganze Zeit. Ich mag mein i3 T_T
Gibt es Systemweite Logs o.ä. wo "generelle" Fehler oder Bibliotheks-Fehler auftauchen?
Firefox und Citrix sind z.b. nicht betroffen. Kein Absturz, nix, alles gut.
Ich dachte erst Electron könnte hier ein Problem sein, aber Chromium hat nichts mit Electron zu tun, nur VS Code und Slack...
Liegt es denn an den Workspaces oder vielleicht an den Anwendungen? Vielleicht läuft ja auch eine von den betroffenen Programmen gemeinsam benutzte Bibliothek nicht richtig.
Ich würde es mal mit einem anderen Window-Manager versuchen und schauen, ob dann alles läuft.
Gibt es noch weitere Möglichkeiten der Analyse? Ich dreh durch T_T
Ich habs probiert, und xcompmgr aus der i3config rausgenommen, hat leider nicht funktioniert....
Tritt das Problem auch auf, wenn Du i3 ohne xcompmgr startest? Ansonsten ist nur die Fehlermeldung

Das einzig "besondere" für mich war ein "wechsel" von xorg-mkfontscale zu xorg-mkfontdir, oder anders herum, weiß es nicht mehr genau.
Hast Du eine volles Update gemacht (pacman -Syu)? Poste doch mal folgende logs/configs:

Hallo zusammen,
ich habe eine arch linux Installation mit i3wm am laufen. Vor ein paar Tagen habe ich ein system update gemacht.
Jetzt habe ich das Problem das einzelne Anwendungen / Workspaces zufällig zusammenbrechen bzw. nicht mehr gerendert werden. D.h. in Inhalt wird nicht mehr gerendert. Wenn ich dann zwischen den Workspaces wechsle sehe ich ein Fragment vom vorherigen Workspace in dem Fenster wo ich eigentlich meine Anwendung erwarte. Die Anwendung kann zwar "selektiert" werden, d.h. ich sehe den Selektionsrahmen um das Fenster, aber es wird nichts mehr gerendert und ich kann es nicht schließen nichts. Ich kann es nur über das Terminal killen.
Es sind auch nicht alle Anwendungen betroffen. Aktuell handelt es sich "lediglich" um Slack, VSCode , Spotify und Chromium.
Achso, das ganze passiert Zeitlich variabel. Mal kann ich 2h arbeiten mal nur 5 Minuten bis alles zusammenbricht.
Ich weiß nicht wo ich mit der Analyse beginnen soll / kann, da ich noch nicht so fit bin was logs / journals etc angeht.
